Hi,
I installed the VM8201 and the new version uploaded software (1.6).
The printer reacts well on Repetier (X,Y,Z) but the display appear only on line 1 and line 3 blocks, contrast does not matter.
For the rest, nothing happens.
Anyone have an idea.
Rob
Check all of the solder joints you made on the control board with a magnifying glass.
That’s always the best place to start.

I have seen something about a reset but I do’t know what
Did you check the solder joints?
Reset is the button to the right of the cable.

Hi Christian,
I ran after the soldering and again cleaned and that is really good …
When I press the reset button of the VM8201 pressure, then there is a flashing LED on the big board but otherwise nothing happens.
Only blocks in row 1 end 3 …
Rob
Ok,
Maybe I didn’t understand correctly.
Do you have blocks in every line of the display?
If so make sure the red wire of the display is at the bottom on the control board.

Hi C,
2 lines filled with cubes in row 1 and row 3
that’s all …
Rob
That is really strange.
Sounds like the LCD maybe defective.

OK, I’ll take contact Velleman.
But thanks for the effort.
Rob
Before you do that and I don’t mean to offend.
Did you put the firmware on for the VM8201?
The reason I ask is it looks like your first post was back in 2013 and I think at that time the printers did not have the firmware for the LCD VM8201.
I got mine at that time and I know it doesn’t.
It still has the firmware that does not support the VM8201 still pays attention to the end stops while it’s printing but it doesn’t give me any problem
I have built a few others and have upgraded them.

Hi Christian,
sorry for my late answer
But we were gone for a flew days,
No problem.
Yes, my first main board was defect.
I have updated the firmware but nothing is happening.
Again thanks for your answers and the support.

Hi
I download the Arduino software 1.0.6
End the problem stay, blocks on row 1 and 3.
And I have another cpu board is put in and the problem remains the same.
I think we can surely say that the VM8201 is not good.
