I’ve tryed to get a connection to my VM140 Interface Card in the limited XP account. Impossible!
It works only in Administrator Mode.
Do anybody have a hint for me?
It seems that there is no known solution to this problem.
Thats not good
My boss will not allow our employees to run a PC in Admin Mode because of security reasons.
The VM140/K8061 is a very nice Interface card with much potential, but running in administratormode only is a poorly solution!
Is there no way to fix this problem?
There seems to be quite easy solution to this Windows XP problem.
- Run Regedit
- Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinUSB
- Right click WinUSB
- Select Permissions…
- Select Users (Computer Name\Users)
- Check Full Control in the Permissions for Users window.
- Click OK.
All this can be done only in Administrator Mode.
When this is done and the driver installed then user in Limited Mode can run the K8061 programs.
This instructions are for the WinUSB driver in this package: k8061_vistapack_2007v1.zip
You may download it from the Velleman downloads page: velleman.be/be/en/download/files/
It seems that this problem concerns only Windows XP SP2.
- No problems on Vista or Windows 7 (or Windows 2000).
It works now!
Thanks for your help!
