VM134 programmer write error

Dear,

I have purchased the pre-assembled VM134 PIC Programmer.

I’m having an annoying problem trying to write the hex file for the sample asm projects that come with the PicProg2009 software, namelly demo1.HEX, and demo2.HEX, which I compiled using MPASM.

The PIC is the 40 pin 16F877. PicProg2009 recognises the PIC, but when I try to write the program I get: “error writing to pic”, and I already tried the “hardware delay -> Low” trick.

I have no problems reading the Program, Data and Configuration, and I can write EEPROM data + configuration, but not the program.

The USB cable is the one that comes with the package, and I’m using a 15V/1.9A source to power the programmer. And there is no usb converter between the PC and the Programmer.

Any suggestions? I’m really disapointed with all this.

Hi,

I think there are a couple of problems.

Demo1 and Demo2 that come with PICPROG2009 were written for the K8048/VM111.
They also require PIC part number 16F627

The only example that supplied for the VM134/K8076 is BLINKLED.
This one requires PIC part number 10F200

I hope this helps.

What if I just read the current program stored in the PIC, and try to write it again.

Should that work?

It would depend if the chip is protected.
