Stock power supply

Unfortunately, the stock power supply didn’t survive last print.
And this is with an external 24V power supply for the heatbed, so the stock one was only for the steppers and the extruder heater.
Result: a blown out fuse…:frowning:

Blown fuse?
Surely not by normal use with about 30-50% load!

Make sure there is no wiring fault that causes shorts!
Especially check for the connection at the screw terminal of the controller board for bent wires.

cheers,

Christian

Same problem with stock power supply here…

Velleman:
My original power supply for the k8200 died in the middle of a print. I have contacted the store where i got the printer and they will follow up.

In the meantime, can I use an old laptop psu or a 12v atx from old stationary pc?

Laptop psu is 19.5v 12.3A

Thanks!

The 12v supply may work, (not that motors will have less power on 12v) but don’t use more than 15v to power the controller.
It is likely that the power regulators will overheat then.

I haven’t discovered any broken wires or whatever.
Seems to be a heat problem, the stock power supply was placed on the external 24V one, so maybe it got too much heat from it.
I installed a new 12V/150W power supply for extruder and motors. 12V seems to be nearly enough, the LED strip I installed is flickering a bit when the extruder heater is on. I guess 15V is better.
