RGB dimmer VM162 switches on automatically

Hello,

I’m using the RGB dimmer VM162 for controlling 6 Luxeon Rebel RGB-LEDs, powered by a Mean Well 12 V power supply.

Changing colors and dimmer works really good, but I do have following problem:
after the unit is turned off by using the remote control it switches on again automatically after few minutes.

I first thought that this demo mode is still active, but I successfully programmed another remote control and it also does not change color automatically - it only switches on automatically after it is turned off by the remote control.

Do you have any idea what the problem could or how I can prevent the unit from switching on automatically again?

Best regards and thanks in advance
Andreas

Either there is a transmitter in your area that emits similar code (alarm system, wireless weather station, remote control, thermostat,…) or you are using a switch mode supply which for some reason causes the processor to reset due to e.g. spikes or interruptions.
Try turning off the unit by reducing the level to 0, not by pressing both transmitter buttons.

Hello VEL417,

first thank you very much for your fast reply!

The strange thing is that I have another VM162 unit working next door (just one room aside) using another transmitter code, of course, and this works perfectly: it does not switch on again automatically.

I indeed always turn off the unit by reducing the brightness to 0 - didn’t know that I can turn it off also by pressing both transmitter buttons at once.

Do you have any other ideas that might help?

Best regards and thanks again
Andreas

Hello VEL417 again,

another question regarding turning the unit off:
due to your manual pressing both transmitter buttons at once will learn the remote control to the receiver and is not used to turn the receiver off.

I’m a bit confused now: should pressing both button also be used to turn the receiver off!?

Best regards
Andreas

Sorry, my mistake, I confused it with the VM151 RGB controller.
No, it can only be turned off by reducing the intensity to zero.
If it turns on again automatically, does it turn on with the last selected colour ?
Does it turn on at full intensity ?

Hello VEL417,

Does it turn on at full intensity ?[/quote]

When it turns on again automatically, it is the last selected color and it seems to be full intensity.
