Hi, I recently bought a PCSGU250. In the package was one probe type PROBE60S (I assume), and I had already another probe that came with a PCS100A I bought much earlier (and taken out of use now).
So, I connected both probes to the new PCSGU250, and saw that the frequency compensation range in the x10 position was
- barely good (no “overshoot” could be made visible) for one of the probes
- not adjustable (always “undershoot” visible, slightly “integrated” signal) for the one that came with the PCSGU250.
I did use a 500Hz signal coming from the built in generator in the PCSGU250.
In the mean time I bough also a probe of PMK, type PMS221A, and also this one could not be adjusted properly in the x10 position.
My question is: Both probes (at least the 60S ones) and scope are from Velleman, how is it possible that the frequency adjustment range is so bad? Is there a misalignment between the scope characteristics and the probe ones? Apparently the capacitor in the probe is too small (or the capacitive input of the scope is too high), the signal can not be made to show some overshoot (in one case even not a flat signal is possible).
It can almost be no coincidence that both probes show the same type of problem, it looks more like a manufacturing mismatch between the 60S probes and the PCSGU250.
Can I do something to circumvent this problem?
Also with the PMK probe alignment was not possible. I do not know if such probes count on a certain resistive (1M?) and capacitive (~20pF?) input characteristics of the scope?
