PCSU1000/PcLab200SE an Windows 10: An issue

The PCSU1000 and its software have proved to be very useful instrument for more than 8 years, for field work I do. The work requires measuring low frequency noisy waveforms and extracting 50 to 70 Hz signals from them, using the FFT spectrum analysis software. It is so useful that I have two complete systems (one for backup) with instruments and laptop computers. Recently I had to replace one computer and now have to run with Windows 10. Even under Windows 8.1, I had to follow a complex procedure to allow me to install the driver without checking the digital signature. Windows 10 has added a new wrinkle in that it appears it automatically deletes drivers without a signature.

In view of the usefulness of this instrument and its apparent popularity, can Velleman please update the driver to a Windows 10 compatible signed version?

This post indicates others have the same problem.

Do this before installing the drivers.

 1. Windows Key + R
 2. Enter shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00 <- These are Zeros Note the spaces
 3. Click the “OK” button
 4. System will restart to a “Choose an option” screen
 5. Select “Troubleshoot” from “Choose an option” screen
 6. Select “Advanced options” from “Troubleshoot” screen
 7. Select “Windows Startup Settings” from “Advanced options” screen
 8. Click “Restart” button
 9. System will restart to “Advanced Boot Options” screen
 10. Select “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement”
 11. Once the system starts, install the drivers

In reply to Wrong Way:

Yes, I did this to install, which works OK and is a great work-around. The problem added by Windows 10 that did not apply with 8.1 is that the compulsory automatic updates in 10 seem to delete the driver. Frequent re-installation becomes quite a nuisance.

Hello,

I concur to the request on getting a signed driver on Windows 1 x64 for the PCSU1000 oscilloscope.
I do not understand why Velleman is so reluctant to support their customers.

Regards

Same procedure as years before: Software, in detail drivers are not recognized by Win 10!

System: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.18363.752] , i. e. Windows 10, Version 1909, 64-bit, the current version, doesn’t recognize the drivers for the PCSU1000.

Device manager tells about an unknown manufacturer for the USB Serial Port. Software is installed as provided from the velleman pages pclab2000se_v4_07_setup.exe.

As previously found, the USB cable has raised problems, such a trial was made with three different cables withotu success.

USB-Viewer from MS shows the reason:

Recommended Resolution

Please visit the website of the company that manufactures the device and look for the most recent drivers for this device.

This was done without success.

Later I’ve found the crazy solution: Disabling the USB-Serial-Port in the device manager made the PCSU1000 or the PC-Lab2000 application running. The Oscilloscope is found under USB-Controller with a driver version 2.12.10.0 from 28.10.2015, while in the USB-View output \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\ftdibus.sys (Version: 2.12.10.3 Date: 2018-02-12) quite another release date from 2018 is shown. A chaos!

USB-View now tells:
Power State : D0 (supported: D0, D2, D3, wake from D0, wake from D2)
Child Device 1 : USB Serial Port
Device ID : FTDIBUS\VID_10CF+PID_1000+YEL952TLA\0000
Problem : 22 (CM_PROB_DISABLED)

But this was only a one-shot issue! Closing PC-Lab and restarting the same shows in the primary menu the toggle “USB-Device detected” checked, but starting PCSU1000 tells “No hardware response” and starts in Demo mode. Unplugging and replugging the USB-Cable in this state is without success. Even if PC-Lab is closed AND in that state the USB-Cable is unplugged and reconnected PC-Lab will no longer find the USB-hardware. I haven’t checked if a reboot will solve this.
