PCSU1000 defective?

Hello, I own a new PCSU1000, S/N 200804852. I tried to use it with a Windows XP SP3 computer. The device is correctly detected as “new USB device”, the driver installs correctly, it appears in ControlPanel/System/Device Manager/USB Controllers. When PCLAB2000SE starts, the device is detected (“USB device detected” checked). BUT, when the program is started with “Ok” the “No hardware response” dialog appears. I tried all that is suggested in that dialog (connect/disconnect the cable, even restart the computer, set again PCSU1000 in Options/Hardware Setup) with no result. The “Power” LED is permanently Off.

I tried the product with 3 different USB cables, the original + 2 known working cables with the same result, I also tested it on 3 computers (all with Windows XP).

At dealer’s suggestion I upgraded the driver & PCLab2000 to versions 2.4.16.0 resp. 4.00 with the same results.

I carefully readed these forums where I found about usbview program. It’s output looks normally, as in Forum’s screenshot.

What could I do?

Most probably the PCSU1000 is defective. You may return it to the dealer.

If you like you may do the following test:

As a final test, to try to find the cause of the problem, you may check the content of the internal EEPROM of the PCSU1000.
To do this you have first to download FTDI’s FT_PROG program from the FTDI’s web site.
Here is the download link: ftdichip.com/Support/Utiliti … .8.2.0.zip

  • Extract the zip package.
  • Connect the USB cable to the PCSU1000.
  • Run the FT_PROG.exe.

In the program’s menu select Devices-> Scan and Parse F5

The screenshot should look like this:

Especially check the section Device Output on the screen.
(You may copy and paste this section from the screen for easier compare.)
Should look like this:

I tried what you suggested, the EEPROM output is exactly as you described, but the device don’t work.

I want to return it to the dealer, but it was bought from the US and I’m in Europe (Romania). May I send it directly to Velleman Belgium to be repaired/replaced? Please give me the right address and contact details.

You can send it directly to us:

I’ve sent the product to Belgium today. I think it’s adequate to transmit our (or the relevant) email addresses, in order to exchange some private informations regarding the parcel and the procedure in general.

Mine is: office@sm-aerocomp.ro

Thanks!
