Recently built the MK194 kit and it works fine for about 4-5 minutes. Then the signal starts to fade and becomes just crackling noises. If I turn it off and back on same crackling noises. If I leave it off for 30 minutes or so and turn it on it’s fine again for 4-5 minutes. Any thoughts on what’s going on and how to fix. Thanks
This sounds like a bad solder joint around one of the capacitors.
All the solder joints looked good, but went ahead and redid all the capacitors. Same issue still exists.
Maybe you could post a picture of the top and bottom and put the link up here.
Someone may spot the error.

Just a guess but you might try redoing the solde joints on C5 and R7
Seems to me if it works for a limited time and then goes south that something is over heating, even though nothing is warm to the touch when it quits working. I went by the resistor colors when installing but decided to check there values. R1,R2 and R3 check close to 10K as they should. R4 and R5 are OK at 1K and R7 is OK at 22 ohm. R6 has the correct band colors and is suppose to be 4.7M but only checks at 12.4K. That’s a big difference, could this be causing the issue? I do not have a 4.7M resistor laying around to replace it right now.
Thanks for the help “Wrong Way”. Not sure what fixed it but redid C5 and R7 and it seems to have done the trick even with that one resistor seemingly off.
