Just one strange question: why is there a 0 ohm resistor needed in this minikit (why is that actually called a resistor)?

It is a wire jumper, shaped as a resistor.
But why do they actually make 0 ohm resistors? I think that’s quite stupid. 
Some automated insertion machines cannot handle wire jumpers.
So called ‘zero ohm’ resistors are ‘resistor-shaped’ wire jumpers, to allow the machines to handle them…
