MK139, LED flickers when I clap, but then nothing happens

Hi

I’ve assembled my kit. I’m using a DC 12V 2A to supply the kit with power. I have nothing running through the relay at the moment. The clap LED responds to claps or some other sharp noises I make. However, nothing happens after that.

I assume that if it was working properly then the relay LED would shine consistently shortly after the clap LED has registered a clap. What could be wrong with my assembly.

I would appreciate any help or advise anyone could give. I understand my problem is probably very vague.

Many thanks

P.S. I’ve recently noticed that if I play around with moving the switches the relay sometimes turns on out of the blue (LED + click)

The kit features a one-clap and a two-clap mode. For testing purposes, use the one clap mode. It needs to ‘hear’ a silence, then a single clap, then again a moment of silence before it will activate the relay. Make sure to read other topics regarding this kit, they feature hints on common mistakes.

Thank you for your response. Last night I took the time to check through all my solder points and although they are not perfect I believe they are good and cone shaped. I then retested and it still doesn’t turn the relay on after I clap (tried so many times  )

It’s interesting though. If I turn the 1-clap switch to 2-clap mode and then back to 1-clap, it sometimes just turns on the relay after a second without needing a clap noise. This leads me to believe that part of the circuit is working.

Tonight I will go over the schematic again and look for any problems. I was very careful when I put it together though.

Thanks again

Hi

Is it normal that pin 7 on IC2 is always outputing a charge?

Sigh, I don’t know what to do anymore

At this point, we’d recommend to mail your kit to:

It wil save you a lot of time and frustrations.

Thank you. I will mail it with the reciept. Will they tell me what was wrong?

You will receive a brief fault description from the repair dept.

Thank you. I’ve sent it. I’ve also included £7.50 in order to fund return mail. I hope to recieve it soon. I’m probably going to go out and buy another of your kits in the meen while.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY !
We cannot accept cash or cheques.
Our engineers will decide if this is a warranty case or not.
If not, you will receive an invoice.
Hopefully, they will return your money with your kit.

LOL! Hopefully? I assume they won’t put it in their own wallet

Oops, it is sent already. I just threw that money away, didn’t I. Damb.

Now we know where the repair department gets the money for all the pizza and drinks they’ve been ordering lately

Hehe, just kidding :stuck_out_tongue:

Well well well, same problem here. Have you solved this problem yet?
