Mk138 Thermostat @ 230V

Hi I have seen lots of people trying to use this as a thermostat for a incubator.

I personally have found that running light bulbs to a total of 36w does not give enough heat to run a incubator at the required temperature.

Can I remove the relay and solder the 12v operating contacts back to the board then connect 230v to the componant contacts, thus avoiding the tracks? If this is suitable this would be great because then I could wire a infrared bulb or heating element.

Any advice would be great or perhaps some kind of 12v bulb that gets very hot and doesnt exceed 3 amps would be great. At the moment Ive tried mr16 spotlight bulbs.

Thanks in advance
Steve

Should be no problem to run 230V bulbs from the relay, but make sure your assembly complies with all required safety regulations.
