MK136 Mics reversed in headset

I am just learning to solder and wander my way around electronics. I found the velleman kits and decided to pick one up to build with my 7 year old. Actually, he just watched for a bit then went off to play. Anyway, I put the MK136 together, double checking my work along the way. I found once it was all fired up and running that the L&R mics were reversed in my headphones. The left mic comes out the right ear and vise versa. I checked all my connections again against the instructions and it all looks good. Any idea where I might have gone wrong?

Thanks!
DAVE

Possibly the headphone does not respect the standards for left and right.

I should updated my post, but in searching yesterday I found a post on here that said the unit should is set up so that with the batteries up the left/right is correct. I checked my work again and it appears good. I guess it is designed to be batteries facing up.

When the batteries are facing up, left and right is according to headphone standard.
