I purchased the kitchen timer project as a christmas present for my son and we built it together. The project is complete and works fine except that LEDs 9, 10, 11 and 12 do not light up. We have tested the project and we think that the chip is damaged; possibly it overheated when we soldered it. Is there a copy of the program which we could download please so that we could program a replacement chip?
We have checked the LED polarity. We also tested that the problem is not due to defective soldering - we did this by measuring the outputs from the IC and we found that the output that drives the 4 LEDs in question does not give the same voltage swing as the other outputs that drive the working LEDs. We also used a continuity tester to test the circuit connected to the non working LEDs, and the soldering/continuity of connection seems fine.
Thank you for your help, we will return the IC for testing.
