I wonder if anyone has ever tried using another pic such as 16F84A or 16F628A with custom software on this PCB. Seems to me it should be possible to get this kit working with some custom characters or permanent coding other than the i (luv) mini-kits that it is preset with and defaults to if the power is removed for overnight. I had hoped to use the kit as is to display a dedicated message but loosing it if power goes down is a major problem!
