MK107 chasing at power-up

Can anyone please tell me how to get this kit to start working at power up.

The diagram that came with the kit shows only a 2 contact switch , my kit has a 4 contact switch

I have tried using two 1uF 50v across the 4 terminals of the switch in several different combo’s but with no effect. Remembering I put the pos leg to positive.

My last attempt , both +legs from diode with one leg to pin 7 (4015) and the other to R12 thus jumping (i think) both sides of the switch , still no affect

Has anyone got an idea how this novice can “fix” this problem

Many thanks Steve

This issue has already been treated.
Please use the ‘search’ button of this forum.

Thanks for the reply VEL417

but its NOT “treated” as you say, the person said it didnt work and i have found the same thing.

I’m not being nasty but as a novice who enjoys velleman kits and you being a moderator (who I assume has better knowledge of electronics) would have been able to answer the question better for me.

Secondly on the question of the switch , can anyone please help

,also I can not find on several electronic sites that I have look on a 1uf 16v elec cap, any ideas?

Many thanks Steve

Sorry, as we don’t support modifications, I was pointing to a discussion in which users discussed this issue.
Maybe a user did find a solution.

Regarding the switch, it is a single pole, single throw pushbutton. Each side of the switch has two pins instead of one, but they are in parallel.
A multimeter will reveal how it is wiring internally.

Thanks for the reply BUT sorry to say trying to make the thing work on start up I dragged the solder wire across the board and blow everything “OPPS”

3 led’s dead
555 super hot
4015 looked like it spat fire

Thats what you get for not clearing up when u plug the power in . Back to the drawing board and maybe another kit
