Just built a MK 124 kit. After applying power nothing happens for a while, then suddenly a column of LEDs lights up. After a few seconds a different column lights up (sometimes 3 LEDs, sometimes 5); this continues (very slowly) for ever. The push buttons have no effect. I have checked the soldering , tried restarting, etc. - always the same result. Checked 5V on supply rail (and on some pins of the PIC). Appears that the processor is incorrectly programmed?
Don’t want to offend but sine this is a kit there is a very large chance that it was incorrectly assembled.
You should post some very clear pictures of the top and bottom of the kit.
Thanks, I inspected everything then checked the clock pin of the processor, it was oscillating but very slowly! Then found that I had interchanged C1 and C2. So it probably was working but at 1/5000th of its correct speed!
