Mk 121(pic16c505) protection bits set?

Hi,

Some weeks ago I bought the mk121 board and after some trouble(due to my rusty soldering skills) I could assemble it successfully.
Now I would like to go a step further, like replacing the existing pic16c505 with a “rewritable” pic16f505 and mess around with the game’s code a little. A friend of mine told me that there is a possiblity that protection bits might be set on the pic16c505, preventing the software from being read via the pic programmer. After studying the pic16c505 manual I found out that it has indeed this feature.

So my questions are:

  1. Is this possible to replace the 16C505 with a 16F505 and and use the old software without changes of the source code ?

  2. Are the protection bits set on mk121’s pic16c505? And if yes, would you mind releasing the source code for learning purposes?

sincerly, jich

Sorry, for copyright reasons we NEVER release sourcecode.

Does this automatically mean that you code protect all your projects?

Yes. No exceptions.
