My son and I just just made the mk118 radio and we are having a few problems. The red light turns on but there is no sound. I did instill the IC1 backwards and I fixed it but it still no sound. This is our first soldering project. It is for a science project and I appreciate any help.

If an IC has been put in backwards, most likely it has been destroyed.
Furthermore, this could just be anything. Most likely an assembly mistake and/or poor soldering.
If you can provide LINKS to HI-RES and SHARP pics of both SOLDER and COMPONENT side of your kit, we can take a look at your assembly.
