MINI KIT MK113 Does not work

I purchased this kit last week from MAPLIN. I am confident that all components are properly soldered, but unable to get any tone from the circuit. After ‘troublrshooting’ I found that the IC socket has pin#1 removed but the circuit daigram shows pin#4 as the unused pin. Is the the problem? If this is the cause, would there be any component damage?

Pin 1 is not removed from the socket but most likely bend horizontal during soldering.
Remove the IC socket, bend pin 1 straight and resolder.

Can I please, confirm that pin #1 is the bottom left position below the ‘notch’?If so, this pin is definitely missing, i.e. REMOVED from the IC socket as received in the kit. All the top row of pins are present. Pin #4 is not connected in the circuit diagram. I have reconneted/resoldered pin#1 and there is still no sound from the loudspeaker. Can you please suggest any further diagnosis?

Reference to my last message:-

As pin#4 is unused, as specified in the circuit daigram, should pin #4 be removed from tha IC socket?

                          Regards,

No need to remove pin, pin is simply not connected at solderside.
Check speaker with multimeter set to ‘ohms’.

Speaker resistance measures 7.8 Ohms.

I received the new IC and speaker; the IC fixed the problem - thankyou.
