KSR10/USB windows 7 support

Hi , I recently bought a KSR10/USB unit. On your website this unit is said to support windows 7 ( 32 and 64 bits ). However on the package of the unit I received , it is mentioned to support windows 7 ( 32 bits only ) . Is this a labeling problem ? If not how do I get the correct software support ?

Don’t see the problem: even today most people have a lot of 32-bit software installed on Windows 7 64-bit. Just install and use.

Hi , The software does not seem to be the problem. It is the USB driver which is not supported as the 64 bit version of windows 7 requires digitally signed drivers. The driver supplied does not have a signature , so no USB support.
The installation manual specifically indicates it works only with 32 bits.
So do I now have a useless product or is an update off this package available ?

Did you follow this instruction manual? velleman.eu/downloads/6/ksr10usbmanual02.pdf

See the section about W7. On the print screen, you see that in the driver directory there is a x64 folder but you should use the installation program.

I did follow the instructions in the user manual on the CD supplied with the KSR10/USB . This manual specifically states windows 7 32 bits only. The CD contains a directory called USB driver which contains subdirctories amd64 , ia64 and x86. The CD does NOT have a programm called install. So I think the manual you are referring to is incorrect or I have an old installation CD

Don’t know if this will work but could be a solution:

  • Disable the obligated driver signature in Windows
  • Manually install the driver (AMD64) by configuration panel -> hardware -> choose the interface -> new driver -> manual selection -> in directory AMD64.

This is just an idea …

Disabling the obligated driver signature also works , but poses a security risk.
Tried your suggestion of manual driver selection , but when I select the directory AMD64 I get the message “” No driver found “”.

Weird … no other suggestions for the moment. I’m sorry.

You should be in the root directory
This is where the “INF” file is.
The O/S should figure out which directory to get the drivers from.

The files contained in the subdirectories under USB driver directory only contain files called ELANUSB.SYS. The CD does not contain any file with an .INF extension.

One of the reasons you may not see the INF file is your machine may not be configured to allow you to see all of the files.
When you load the drivers go into the folder “USB drivers” like it states in the instructions then click on next.
