K8084 pre-amplifier

I would like to connect a CD-source to the pre-amp, and offcourse the pre-amp to a power amplifier.

The power amplifier is the K4020 from velleman (discontinued)

The input sensitivity of this power amp is 1V RMS and the max output of the K8084 is 5VRMS.

Is this a problem or should I weaken the input by altering the resistors?

If So can you please give me a sollution for this?

really thanx in advance!..Someone gave me a broken K4020 power amplifier…But I fixed it. ( )

Should not be a problem.

Hello sir,

I used the K8084 and it works perfect. The only disadventage I had was with a standard transformator. A Toriod is much better in my case. I had a lot of HUM…and grounding didn’t make it much better. I also made direct connections to the print instead of using the RCA connections on the print.

Here You see my results:

(on the bottom…input…on top…output) with a 1kHz 0dB test sound from CD.

A great kit! I don’t here any hum or wathever!

Thanks for the info.
Looks great!

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!

if someone build this like in the picture…pay attention that the mounting system (the metal in the middle of the toroid transfo) never connect to both sides of the case. This will result in a problem!!! It will act as a single winding and gives a short-circuiting!!!

That’s a very nice build.

The two wires you see coming out of the case is just for testing with indirect light…

Now this pre-amp has a professional look  I’m happy with the result:) If Velleman need this idea for somethig?

greetings,
Steven
