K8048 - various odd behaviours

I have a K8048, working fine until today.

Various behaviours…

PIC16F84A - when inserted and PROG/RUN switch (SW5) in middle, the flashing LED (LED9) flashes faintly.

PIC16F627 - the POWER led goes out when SW5 not in center.

PIC16F628 - the POWER led goes dim when SW5 not in center.

another PIC16F628 - LED9 flashes faintly when SW5 in middle

yet another PIC16F68 - when programming says “NO PIC ON BOARD, PROGRAMMER MUST BE SET…” etc… etc…

DL4YHF’s programming software WinPic reports:

Could not switch off Vpp !
Could not switch Clock or Data !
Could not switch Clock or Data !
WARNING: Could not initialize programmer !

although WinProg2 reports:

K8048 Detected.

Any clues on ANY of these issues

Hi,
This smels kile a supply problem.
When LD7 goes out as you discribe, does VR1 or VR2 (or both) on the K8048 board become hot?

This behaviour can be normal for the K8048 (see [url]K8048: PIC not fully made voltageless in "Sleep" m]). The PIC gives through some current received in other pins to Vdd. See other threads in this forum to explain this. I do not think this has anything to do with the problem.
