Have a really funny problem - I assembled the K8048 (and I did a nice job of it I may add) does what it’s supposed to do except run the program.
Now, I can get the PIC to run the program but only if I touch with my finger across J1,J2,J3,J4,J5 or J6. If I touch any one of these jumper points (only these points do it) the K8048 runs the program.
I even tried changing the crystal but that don’t do it.
as you have stated that you are able to do everything except run the program, I assume you can read/erase/program/verify the PIC ok?
Are you using the supplied demo programs?
And lastly, as mentioned by VEL456, do you have the jumper connectors fitted to the correct pair of jumper headers for the PIC you are using, when trying to run the program? (The jumper connectors play no part during programming, they are provided as a means to use the development hardware of the board…switches for input, LED’s for output and the OSC/caps to run the program. )
implies that you don’t have the jumper connectors on, unless you are touching the bottom of the PCB (Solder side).
However, if you DO have the jumper connectors fitted and are having this problem, check your soldering for dry-joints or solder-bridges, or possibly faulty caps at C6 & C7. A bright light and some form of magnification is recommended for inspecting the board.
HTH.
