K8048 & Cable Problem

Just to let others know that if you get the K8048 PIC KIT,

I would advise that you assemble the cable yourself using their wiring diagram as standard serial cables don’t seem to work.

I was getting the message ‘K8048 not found at COM1’ etc… until I assembled my own cable with the connector parts they supply. - you don’t get the cabling, so I just used wire wrap cable - (any thin cable will do).

Note:

They are using only 6 pins and (male/female) connectors are of course inverted, so pin 1 male is wired to the opposite side of the female - I fell into that trap, of course it makes sense now, but just be aware and follow the diagram carefully.

Hope this helps…

Hi,
I do use a “standard” rs232 cable without any (electrical or software) problems. The only thing that can be a problem is the placement on the rs232 connector on the K8048 board which does not allow an easy insertion of the cable.

Dear customers,

Standard cables works perfectly, they must be full connected.
It’s true if they missing some wired they didn’t work.
