I recently bought the k8029 slow on/off dimmer module, and I am having some issues.
Firstly, in the booklet provided, the DIP switches on page 9 appear to be misleading, if I am correct. The small black rectangle represents the raised portion of the switch, does it? If so, that makes restore factory defaults ON, ON? I found the diagram to be a little misleading; I would have expected the long white rectangle to represent the raised portion.
Also, when I put my module into timer mode, it flashes on, dims for around 5 seconds, goes to full brightness, then slowly dims to nothing in the time I set beforehand. I would expect the module to go to and be at full brightness for the duration of the on time…? Is this usual?
Sorry you had difficulties understanding the dip switch operation.
The unit has been on the market since 2000 and we have never received any complaints about this, so we assumed it was clear to everybody.
Regarding the dimming, we suspect you are not using the K8006 base unit, is this correct?
Well, I realised in the end, but it might have been nice if the switches said something like ‘ON, OFF’ next to them. Perhaps I am just being an idiot, it is not a big issue in any case.
The K8029 works only correct with the base unit K8006.
For use stand alone you can use our K8028 !
For most SLOW-ON/OFF projects you need an external contact to start the dim function, K8029 only support “push button” control input.
