K8004 Not giving high currant

I have used with out problem 2 x K8004 in the past and have just put together 2 more both work OK on small motors but when I hook up a heating wire for cutting foam which I think will take 2 - 3 amps the voltage drops to 0.5 volts and little current. This is used on a 12 volt Accumalater with adequate power. Have tried it direct and no problem . This is day 2 SO Help please And my thanks. Peter.

Hard to tell without being able to check out your assembly.
Make sure that the protection of the circuit is not triggered because the initial current surge is to high.
What is the resistance of the cold wire?

Many thanks for your reply and trouble. Have found source of trouble the Second hand variable resister with intermtant fault . By the way was 1.6 Ohms. current now running 1Amp and voltage 1.5 - 2 . This part working OK now on the battery. But as I want to drive from mains powered DC supply which is smoothed with output of 17 volts have transfered to it , but will not recognise that it is there. checked the output on scope everythig Ok . Ridiculous !!! situation
Any ideas. Frustrated Regards Peter

I’m sorry, but we have difficulties understanding what exactly you are trying to do.
Please supply a diagram that shows how you have wired everything.

Thank you for your time . The thing is it is now working completely and I do not know what the problem was so hope it does not arrise again…
My gratefull thanks for you time and sorry to have wasted it.
Regards Peter
