K6501 Remote control telephone kit

Hi people,

I am from Singapore and I know very little about electronics. I bought this K6501 remote control telephone kit but I dont know how to make it work. I am going to use the kit for my project and installing a fan and a LED as the output.
Questions:

  1. How am I going to connect my telephone cord to the circuit when the kit does not have a cord to plug in?
  2. How does the code in the manual works? I dont understand about it.

If your knowledge is limited we strongly suggest to seek local help before attempting to assemble and use this kit.
For connection to the phone line, you need to get a cord with a plug on one end and two wires on the other end (or you could cut off a plug from a plug-to-plug cord).
The manual shows you where to connect the wires.

Regarding the code, there are two code digits that need to be determined.
if you post the code that you want here, I will tell you how to connect the jumpers.

Thank for the reply.

Assemble and soldering is fine for me. Understanding how the kit going to work is a hard part for me. I got what you mean for the phone line. :slight_smile:

As for the code I really have no idea about that. What does the code do? If i use jumper and make it example:1 (in the code table)what will works? What does the 1 to 9 do if I use my jumper connect it that way?

Do I need to edit the microchip program if i am using LEDs and fan as the output?

Please read the manual carefully.
Every time you want to access the unit, you need to compose a two-digit code.
The jumpers determine each digit of the code in a binary fashion.
You cannot alter the firmware, the processor is read-protected and we never release source code.
The K6501 allows you to turn on/off a relay from a remote location. This should be fine for your application.

Oh. Sorry the manual is not with me now, I only read it a few times before. So does it mean the code acts like a switch to for the output?

Hi,

I think what VEL417 is saying is that this is a security code.
When the K6501 answers the phone you will need to give it this code before you can access the unit to turn the relays on and off.
