K6002 problems

Hello all,

recently I have bought a K6002 kit, which includes the temperature controler and sensor electronics as well.

I have follwed the assembly instructions; after I have connected the controller and sensor the former
doesn’t respond to any button being pressed. Display keeps showing “FAIL” message and it seems to
be stucked in there no matter which button is pressed.

The controller and the sensor units uses each their own separate power supply as it was stated in the manual.

The 0 degC calibration of the sensor unit was successful and the out’s pwm duty cycle changes according to
temperature, applied to sensor element.

After I connect both units the amplitude of the “out” signal of sensor unit dropped from 6V to 2V, but the
pwm duty cycle remains unchanged. This should be OK, becouse the sensor unit is now connected to
optocoupler (IC1) input section. But the signal on the output stage of IC1 doesn’t show the clear level
transitions… I guess this could be the problem for uP…

Can you help me to solve this problem?

Questions:

1.) K6002 manual, page 7: the kit includes the IC1 which is different as specified in manual (TIL111). I have compared
both datasheets and it should be OK.

2.) K6002 manual, page 8: why the C7 should not be mounted? Why it is supplied within the kit then?

3.) K6002 manual, page 11: some interconnections between mezzanine boards on PCBs differs from those
shown in manual. Anyway here is nearly impossible to do a mistake…

  1. Supplied opto coupler is a pin-compatible device.
  2. With supplied µ-controller, C7 does not need to be mounted

It is normal that the signal drops to 2V at the input (1 diode plus opto led)
We assume K6002 is fed with AC. If fed with DC, unit will display FAIL.
Check opto-coupler, pull down and pull-up resistor.

yes, this could be the reason why device does not work. I’ve used the 9V DC.
There is becouse of V1 and V2 which makes diffeerence between 9v AC and DC, I guess.

I will try it.
