I have finished building three K4040 power amp kits (I tri-amp my hifi). I purchased the kits from Tube Depot in the US. Unfortunately I have found a major problem: Two of the output transformers have a short between their 400V (black) and the ground (blue/ yellow/ red). This causes the amp to see a ‘dead short’ as soon as the high voltage relay kicks in. I think that these two transformers will have to be replaced.

I got onto the server, and your people sent me 5 South African suppliers, none of which can help me. Of the 5 one calle Rabtron is the ‘official’ Velleman representative, the best they can do is replace the part if I can get a part number.
However, from a previous posting from ‘penttos’ (Jul 2012) he had the same problem as I do, and Velleman replaced his part under a 2 year warranty.
Please advise on how to proceed.

Sorry, our distributors do not stock these items, they would have to special order them for you.

Hi,
Returning these two very heavy items to Belgium will cost a lot, this after I spent several hundred Dollars in courier fees importing three stereo kits. Would it be possible for me to rather deliver the two transformers to a local representative, eg. Rabtron, and once they have these, for Vellemna to send replacements?

Sorry, the distributor is not able to examine and or test the unit, they will have to be shipped to our main repair dept.
Why did you order the amps from the US and not from a local distributor?
