Assembled a k2636 kit successfull as sent and used on a few bench of drill machines (300 & 750 W).
If I replace the trimpot RV1 (100K) by an external 100K pot, the drill machine runs full speed and no way to adjust the speed!
checked twice the cabling & measured the pot value: all OK.
Do I need a specific 100K potentiometer?

I do see 1 problem the diode closest to RV1 is mounted reversed
