K2543 Case?

Do you supply or can you recommend a suitable case to house the K2543 kit in order to mount in the car?

Not really, this depends on your taste, budget, application, etc…
Anyway, mount heatsink at the outside of the case, to insure adequate cooling.

OK Thanks

I’m just doing this kit. The problem with a case is that one is only given outside dimensions. So how thick is; the lid, the base, the sides, screw pedestals [or whatever they’re called!]?

Wall thickness is about 2mm and then one has another 2mm for the slot channel. You need to allow 11-12mm each end for the screw pedestals. Point i’m making is it is quite surprising how much you need to allow for. The PCB is 70 x 35.

I chose the 100 x 50 x 21 case from maplin [available in black (which is nicer than grey given the black heatsink) from RS and probably many other suppliers]. I’ve just spent a while researching this! This gives you about a spare 4-5 mm on all sides which i think is about right. Other smaller sizes are too small.

As for how to mount the box; there are similar boxes with mounting lugs in the lid [have a look at RS]. I’ve decided to forget the supplied screws, drill a 3mm down through the pedestals and use long screws to secure the box on the car dashboard.

Hope this helps… here’s a pic with my spare pcb inside. Ideally one obtains the horizontal mounting strips (sometimes included in a box and sometimes available as an extra - i decided not to bother).
