HPS10SE acting strangely

Hi

I have a HP10SE that is acting strangely. I am trying to measure signals on a board, but I seem to be getting bad results.

Even when I measure the GND or +3.3V signal, I get a noisy signal that looks like a bad sine wave.

I took the battery cover off, and did the probe calibrate, and that seemed to work, but any other measurements just look like garbage.

I ordered a new probe and AC adapter to rule out the probe and battery problems. Any suggestions in the meantime?

Thanks
Sam

This looks like a bad or interrupted ground connection. The calibration output works because it uses internal ground. Check probe.

I got a new probe today, and it still has the same problem.

I bought this scope in April this year. Is it still under warranty?

How do you go about sending it in for repair?

Thanks
Sam

That is strange. You can open the scope and check if the GND wire is properly soldered to the GND connection of the BNC connector. If this is not the problem, then we’d recommend to send in the scope for repair. Please note that problems due to use beyond the specs (e.g. overvoltage) are not covered by warranty. Please return the scope to:
