Sorry if this has been asked before but I have fallen victim to the old age USB RS232 adapter/no compatibility issue. My PC has no serial ports on it however will a cheap PCI card such as this one; http://www.manhattan-products.com/en-US/products/8227-serial-pci-card work with the VM111?

That card should work, it uses the 16C550/16C450 UART which is about as generic and “real” a PC RS-232 port as you can get…
