Have just finished putting together Velleman 138 controlled incubator. Apart from the fan whirring away, it shows little signs of life. It has been wired carefully and the thermostat modified with appropriate resistors as per forum instructions to raise working temperature to ~ 100*F. Power supply blue wire goes straight from plug to one side of the heater bulb. Power supply brown wire goes from plug to NO switch connector and Brown wire then goes from COM to the remaining heater bulb connection. I am using the thermistor which came with the kit. It is not strictly true to say that there is no life but if I tap the relay on its right side facing the relay from the front , there is a quick flash of light from the 40W heater bulb. The problem may rest in the relay but what?.12 volt DC supply from the mains is more than adequate to power the heater and the fan. The LED remains unlit and VR settings from min. to max. have no influence on performance. It has been tried over a period of some two hours with no improvement and I am at a loss to identify the fault. Can you please offer any advice as to how I should approach the problem. Thank you.
Most likely an assembly problem.
If you can supply LINKS to HI-RES and SHARP pics of both SOLDER and COMPONENT side of you kit, then we can take a look.
Thank you Velleman. I had the uneasy feeling that was the problem and, not being too good at passing on photos, I bought another 138 kit today and will try harder this time . At age 72, my hands are not as steady as they used to be. Thank you also for your rapid reply. I hope I do not have to trouble you again.
how do you post pics???
Sorry, you cannot post pics.
You must supply LINKS to the pics (e.g. via a free online picture base).
